SHETLAND MEETS THE SOUTHWEST:

Exploring Colorwork Through the Color Lens of

Ghost Ranch and Georgia O’Keeffe

with Mary Jane Mucklestone

Join Mary Jane for a relaxed study of color inspired by the landscapes that captivated Georgia O’Keeffe. We will draw from the rich, earthy hues of desert cliffs, sagebrush plains, and vast southwestern skies. Using the principles of Shetland’s Fair Isle knitting—also deeply connected to its natural surroundings—we will create our unique personal color palettes.

Through discussions on color relationships and the importance of value, we’ll learn skills to improvecolor perception and take away concepts that can be applied to all your future colorworl projects. Mary Jane will provide a basic hat pattern and a basic cowl pattern to use as our swatch.

While we focus on color selection, Mary Jane will also offer guidance for those who wish to refine their stranded knitting technique. Whether you’re new to Fair Isle or an experience knitter seeking deeper color knowledge, this class will leave you with greater confidence in your color choices.
